What a real DigiD email looks like
DigiD mainly contacts you through your official account or message box; emails come from @digid.nl. It will never ask you to pay a fine or claim a refund through a payment link in an email.
Red flags of a fake DigiD email
- !A "tax refund" to claim or a "fine" to pay through a link
- !Requests for DigiD, bank or card details
- !A sender domain that is not @digid.nl
- !Urgency or threats of extra fees
- !Awkward language or a look-alike domain

What does a real DigiD email address look like?
It comes from an @digid.nl address. Scammers fake the display name, so always check the actual address, and watch for look-alike domains (extra words, a different ending, or a misspelling).

Contact your bank immediately to block or reverse the payment, change any password you entered, and turn on two-factor authentication. Then report it.
How do I report a fake DigiD email?
